Panoway on Wayzata Bay

In 2019/2020 Three Rivers and the City of Wayzata partnered on the Panoway project.  This project provided a connection for residents and visitors to iconic Lake Minnetonka.

The partnership allowed Three Rivers to achieve one of our long term goals to extend the Dakota Rail Trail through downtown Wayzata and provide some trail safety improvements. The 15 mile Dakota Rail Trail is one of our most popular trails with over 500,000 visits per year. The paved trail offers a spectacular view of Lake Minnetonka and follows the route of the former Dakota Railway.  It winds through Wayzata, Orono, Minnetonka Beach, Spring Park, Mound, St Boni and Minnetrista.

At Three Rivers we are looking forward to working together on Panoway phase 2 to provide environmental education about Lake Minnetonka at the Foreman’s House. Our long term goal is to extend the Dakota Rail Trail to Minnetonka City Hall.
